Wabassus Lake Project

DLLT is working to add 6,644 acres on the Machias and St. Croix River watershed boundary to the Farm Cove Community Forest. This is a spectacular forest property with almost 9 miles of lakeshore, 6 miles of streams, scenic hillslope forests, wildlife habitats, wetlands, public access roads, and the ITS 84 snowmobile trail.

The Wabassus Lake Project Committee is working to raise $3.2 million to acquire the Wabassus Lake Tract and permanently protect its natural resources and public values.

Downeast Lakes Forestry Partnership

Acquisition of the Farm Cove Community Forest and the Sunrise Easement was made possible through the Downeast Lakes Forestry Partnership: a cooperative effort between Downeast Lakes Land Trust, New England Forestry Foundation, and Woodie Wheaton Land Trust to conserve 342,000 acres of forestland and more than 445 miles of lakeshore plus 1500 miles of river and stream shoreline.

Everyone who has given to this project—foundations, government, and individuals – is a part of this accomplishment                                    More Information
